Hi all,
Seems you guys never used google. By the way there is a standard procedure to install ns2. Ns2 is having some dependencies. Dependencies means you are trying to install some thing on windows say some game it is asking you to install directx version x that means you can not install a game untill you install directx i.e. directx is the dependecy for the game. Same is with linux. In linux first you will have to install the dependencies (the process is known as resolving dependencies) then you will install the software or tool or package.
ns2 ‘s latest version is 2.34. For installing this, first read the instructions given on How to install ns2
There is one more advice, try to install ns2 on Fedora or ubuntu coz you will get a huge support for this distros on net, and these are so simple to use that one day may be you will completely switch to them.
All the best,

As such there is no guidelines. (As far as I know). There are many ways of doing a project, some are mentioned below:
1. Thesis @ college
2. Thesis @ Company or research center
3. Working models @college
4. Working Model @ Company
For option 2 and 4 , one has to contact a company and fetch an internship opportunity there. for 1 and 3, the student can carry out the project at college it self.
In both the cases, I will prefer to go for some thing innovative which interests the student. A scheduled approach is the best one, which contains a timeline for every thing from literature survey to thesis or report submission.
All the best for your project.
